Mono Bagends talks about "Get Sexy For Me", Janky Promoters, Wild Fans and more in this new interview!

Wildfire Promotions:  What's up Mono Bagends, how is everything going?

Mono Bagends:  Everything is good. Trying to stay positive and live in the moment.

Wildfire Promotions:  We are loving the new single "Get Sexy For Me", could you tell the readers a little about the single?

Mono Bagends: Its an intimate record that is radio friendly and very smooth. If you with the person you want to do your "thing thing" with...play the record.

Wildfire Promotions:  Do you plan on performing this song live or do you feel it's not one of those songs?

Mono Bagends:  That's a good question. I have played around with it...At first, I didn't think I would but after doing it....I like performing it...You get a sexy chick on stage with you and it works

Wildfire Promotions: Who did the hook to this song and do you plan on working with this artist again in the future?

Mono Bagends:  XL - its two people...I hooked up with D-Sharp to do the record and those are his people. It's a possibility but nothing is in the works.

Wildfire Promotions:  Getting back to performances, where have you been performing lately?

Mono Bagends:  In New York mostly...

Wildfire Promotions:  Do you have any shows lined up for 2014?  If so, where?

Mono Bagends:I am in discussions as we speak. I am superstitious so I do not like to discuss anything until it is signed off...As soon as it is official I'll get back at ya.

Wildfire Promotions:  I know we may have asked you this already, but the answer may have changed.... where is your favorite place to perform?

Mono Bagends:  I don't really have a favorite place. I like a high energy venue where the people come to have a good time and not kill each other.

Wildfire Promotions: Do you have any juicy stories about some things some fans have done at one of your shows?

Mono Bagends:  One time in Texas two girls got on stage during my "breaking em down" record and got completely nude on stage. It got real wild and they stopped my show after security had to deal with the melee...I told them the show wasn't over and they said "yes it is...here's your money"...lol...that was a crazy night.

Wildfire Promotions:  If you don't mind sharing, what's one of the worst experiences you've had with a promoter on the road and how did you resolve the issue?

Mono Bagends:  Sometimes these clowns don't want to cough up the money...I don't deal with it personally...One of my people's job responsibilities is specifically to deal with things like that. In short....I got my money.

WildFire Promotions:  How are you feelin' right now Mono Bagends?

Mono Bagends:  Everything is good...It's another day with limitless opportunities and endless opportunities.

 

WildFire Promotions:  We see you have a new single out right now titled "You Drive Me Crazy" featuring Mela Bela, how would describe this single and what makes it different from "On Fire"?

Mono Bagends:   Its a fun fast paced dance record about a bad relationship. It is completely different from On Fire.

 

WildFire Promotions:  Have you gotten this single out to any of the DJs? Which ones are supporting the single?

Mono Bagends:  I really haven't started pushing it yet....I just leaked it out to a few places to see the feedback....it has been very positive and after I shoot the video then I will go full blast with it.

 

WildFire Promotions:  You recently performed in Bethlehem Pennsylvania, how did the event go there?
Mono Bagends:  Very Well...it was at Club Casa Blanca with DJ Baby J...after the show the owner took me and my people down to his restaurant and hooked us up and told me any time I'm in the area to call him and dinner is on him...so I guess I made a good impression.

WildFire Promotions:  Do you have any more shows lined up in the foreseeable future?

Mono Bagends:  Yes....I have one at the Recoup Lounge on april 1st, Shrine on the 17th and the OTB lounge on the 19th...They are all NY venues.

 

 

WildFire Promotions:  Where would you like to rock a show next?
Mono Bagends:  Anywhere my fans want to see me.

 

WildFire Promotions:  To the promoters that may be reading this article, what would you like to tell them and why should they book Mono Bagends for a show?
Mono Bagends:  When you come to a Mono Bagends show you get high energy....that is what a show is about....connecting with the crowd...We get the crowd hyped up but we do it in a fun way. I do not curse when I perform so a venue would not have to worry about us saying anything that would humiliate them.

 

WildFire Promotions:  What has been one of your major accomplishments since the last time we spoke to you back in 2012?

Mono Bagends:  To keep pushing through adversity...in the music game there are always set backs. You deal with a lot of garbage people but you can't let them derail you from accomplishing your goals. I have gotten good at that...just brushing them off and keep moving forward.

 

Wildfire Promotions:  What plans do you have for the rest of 2013?

Mono Bagends:  To get the Mono Bagends movement to the next level. Musically the next thing to be done is the "You Drive Me Crazy" video.

Wildfire Promotions:  How you feelin' right now Mono Bagends?   

Mono Bagends:  Positive and inspired. Happy to be alive and excited about what the day will bring. It is another day filled with limitless opportunities and endless possibilities. 

Wildfire Promotions:  How would you describe the theme behind your latest single and video "On Fire"?  

Mono Bagends:  It is positive and inspirational. It is a feel good record that will put people in a better mood when hearing it. It will help them to keep pushing through adversity. I am very proud of it. 

Wildfire Promotions:  Have you been working with any DJs or record pools to help you break this single?

Mono Bagends:  The record has been blasted out to tens of thousands of DJs worldwide.  Everyone is feeling it and the downloads and plays are increasing daily.  I am getting more and more drop requests as well.  More and more record pools are getting behind it as well.  The Massachusetts digital record pool has "On Fire" as the number #4 breakout record for urban/crossover/r&b top 40 as of June 1st.  Rickets Record pool in New Jersey has also been helpful. 

Wildfire Promotions:  Speaking of DJs, what DJs do you respect in the game right now?

Mono Bagends:  I would say the top DJ nowadays is DJ Khaled...I respect the way he gets so many different artists on tracks and blends there different skill sets together perfectly. I also like DJ Clue. 

Wildfire Promotions:  How do you feel about DJs now-a-days? 

Mono Bagends:  Artists need DJ's to break the records. Getting the right DJ behind you is instrumental to your career. I wish some DJ's would play more up and coming records just because they like it as opposed to waiting for everyone else to be playing it. 

Wildfire Promotions:  How would you describe a live show starring Mono Bagands?  What can fans expect? 

Mono Bagends:  High energy and a great time. A lot of crowd interaction. I love performing live ...it is something I always prided myself on. There is nothing like walking on stage and that feeling that takes over you. You can check a live show I did in New York on youtube. Mono Bagends:  New York, Texas, Miami, Arkansas, Virginia, Spain, New Jersey. The first time I ever performed was on the tv show 106 and Park in Harlem. 

Wildfire Promotions:  Where would you like to rock a show that you haven't already? 

Mono Bagends:  Not really sure...I love traveling and seeing new places...Off the top of my head I would say Las Vegas or Los Angeles. 

Wildfire Promotions:  What are 4 highlights of your career as a rapper? 

Mono Bagends:  Performing on 106 and Park, Being Nominated for Best Upcoming Rapper and Most Original Solo Artist at the Underground Music Awards, working with D.R. Wildfire Promotions:  What has been one of your worst experiences in the industry so far, and how did you learn from it? 

Mono Bagends:  I have worked with some flat out crooks who promise you the world and only have their own agenda's in mind. I am more careful who I deal with and what I will listen to. I have learned if it don't feel right it isn't....It's ok to say "no" and keep it moving. 

Wildfire Promotions:  What are your plans for the rest of 2012? 

Mono Bagends:  Right now I am focused on making "On Fire" pop off. I know everyone says this but this record can blow up...it just needs to be heard. I am going into heavy promotion mode. I want to build up a strong internet presence...after that I have the follow up records already done and in the chamber. Sky is the limit for this year!!!
